Tuesday 29th July 2008 by Markie G

Hello people and welcome to my version of last Tuesday.

I arrived fashionably late, Well about an hour to be exact. This week is special because it was the week of Michelle's Birthday, So i have to say sorry for turning up late first. I would like to point out that I was at work, as soon as I finished I got straight to the venue.

The DJ is a Guy call DJ Gaz (make sure I do not get it wrong). He is the positive type of DJ that tells everyone that they are great even if they are rubbish. He has a few saying like "conna fault ya" and "that will ding dang do". Now we at the BHH have kind of become acustom to a little bit of abuse, So this is a little different to say the least. He also has this bloody security light thing that blinds everyone in the pub. Apart from that he is ok I suppose but one thing that he not is Andy King (we do love our Mr King).

I normally do not comment on the price of the bar but its now getting silly. I have been to many a bar but the BHH seems to be one of the most expensive, It costs more to buy a pint of coke in there than in Port Vales home ground or the Quality Hotel in Hanley. They also like to add insult to injury by making it flat, I have never got a pint of coke with fizz in it. We now joke by asking if I would like a coke cordial. We once took the pint back, My god it was as if i had pissed on there children; they turned nasty over it.

Onto the main issue of the night which was the Last orders thing. At some point the last orders were called (well thats what we were told). They apparently flashed the light but with that bloody security light going off we did not see it otherwise we would have ordered at that time. Callum went up and tried to order the drinks but the woman behind the bar said "we have stopped serving". This was after Callum had been standing there for about 3 mins. NowIi would be ok with the whole we are not going to run over but they carry on serving on the other side of the bar and also served the DJ well after we spoke to them. One mistake that we made was to leave early as the pub will not think the way to get us to leave is to stop serving early.

Niki did us another brilliant collection of songs we have also got a video.

On a final note I will have a rant about the fact that the BHH is just a pub that we meet in if they do not start to treat us right then we will leave and go else where. We are a massive chunk of the money that they make on a Tuesday and we would class ourselves as locals so please treat us like it. We have never caused trouble we come for some fun but in recent weeks its been anything but..

Tuesday's Karaoke Night by Jake Rocket

I thought I'd add a post, seen as nobody has for a while!

Tuesday's seem to have picked up again over the past few weeks after a few quiet ones. People even like the quiz, which is a name the intro quiz, it's fun and quick and when you win makes it a bit of a cheaper night (£10 drinks voucher, which doesn't help if have more than about three people on your team!)

Andy (the DJ) just does a Tuesday night now, after the landlord decided to get someone else in on a Thursday. Glad he didn't change Tuesday instead, I don't think the DJ needs changing to be honest, it's the advertising and bar prices that need changing!!

Random Thoughts Saturday 26th January - Sharon

Very scary, I have been driving for 10 years today; this makes me feel very old. (I am leaving myself open to "yes you are" comments from Markie G et al...so I've already done it). But then Markie G is going to be very old on Monday (28 he he).

I have brought him a wireless headset for his 360. He assures me it will make all the difference, however, I assume you have to hold the controller already so why does the head set need to be wireless? Also FIFA 08 is the most dull game in the world; a sure cure for insomnia.

Are there any more FIFA 08 widows out there? We should join up to give each other morale support through endless dull evenings when our other halves are glued to the sofa, hogging the TV.

Tuesday 15th January by Markie G

This week’s karaoke was a little dead to say the least. I think that this has to be put down to the fact that many people might be partied out after the festive season. There was only four singers this week which consisted of Me,Russ Nikkie and the builder guy (sorry forgotten his name). Michelle and Denise were both ill so it was a quiet one this week so I will talk about other things.

As you know I have both an Xbox and PS3 and after playing them both I have to say that the Xbox is the better console; I am not 100% sure why it just feels better and this comes from a guy that has owned both the PS and PS2. If anyone else plays online do you not get sick of people bailing out when they start to lose. 4 matches where I have gone up by 2 goals and the other guy/gal has left it pees me right off. Sorry did I not say I am talking about the brilliant game that is Fifa 08 (Sharon hates it because she thinks it’s boring). So let me go through some of the issues that I think are in the game and let’s see if you guys have the same issues. When playing the game the pause thing can be done when your player has the ball but it does mean that you can pause it even if you have only touched it as it flies across the box so you can put off the attacking team by pausing as they are setting up their player to score. The players seem to want to control it too much even though you just want to hit it. They often look up instead of running onto the ball if you pass over players heads. And my final one is people aged between 8-15 play the game and are crap and just knob about with the ball and try to do tricks that never work and you beat them by stupid amounts that’s unless they are on your team and then lose you the game.

Anyway I will stop yabbing as Sharon will moan that I am still going on about “bloody games consoles”

Have a good week people and might see you in the pub if not then I will be writing again soon

Also where have Anastasia and face of bo gone

Reply to Scott by Markie G

Having read Scott’s blog I thought I would reply to him as I seem to be in the blog a lot. These comments are directed directly at Scott.

I have never tried to ruin your Wedding I was passed your booking by another DJ who did not live in the area and felt that because the client was "difficult" it might be better for someone who is from the area as he was not 100% sure he would be able to do the booking. When I found out it was you Scott I refused it and said that it would not be fair as we have had some issues I said that I could pass it onto someone else in the area that has no link to you and I know that they offer a good show. Little did you know Scott but the mic stand that you used was mine and I gave it to the guy to use as he had forgotten his. I told him not to tell you because this might have upset you and whatever I might think of you your Wedding is one of the most important days of your life (mine certainly was). I would never have done anything to take that away from you.

When I read people’s comments I always remember that it’s from their view point as the same situation can be seen differently by many different people. You sniped at me as you went past so I reply to that you then decided to try to turn that physical which is your choice I would not have backed down and I am not a coward as you put it. I do not like to fight but if I have no choice then I will. I thought that you were more intelligent than to use your fists. On that day I won simply because you lost you cool mind you I still do not understand how we even fell out in the first place. When I first came to the pub I thought that we got on well trying to get Andy to sing a Dennis Waterman song. On the point you made about the Staff that same member of staff told me something different maybe you should think about if they were just telling you what you wanted to hear. Times do change and we fell out.

I never comment about you unless I hear you comment about me. Often people take a disliking to me because I am the louder one of the group half of what I am blamed for is in fact nothing to do with me. Some of the worst singers in the pub have turned out to be the best entertainers. I go out there to have fun some songs I can sing some I can not but I try.

It’s also nice to see that you like Nikkie she is really entertaining and is always ready to have some fun. Any comments that are said to Nikkie by me are always made in the nicest sense possible she has her own style when it comes to singing and she should stick to it not changing what she does because some idiot in the pub insults her (not saying it’s you Scott)

As a final thought I would like to say that I am not a nasty person and I am happy to have banter with you. You feel the need to snipe at me which again is fine I am not sure how entertaining Crabs can be maybe that’s not an insult. I do not think people come into see me nor do I believe that they come into see you. They are there because of the pub and Andy. I knew that you would come to Tuesday nights after your night was cancelled and I hoped that nothing would be said but that was not the case. I am more than happy to draw a line under it but that would mean that you would not snipe at me. If you want banter then that’s fine but do not get offended by it. I have not commented about your wife and will not even though she did square up to me on that night, I understand that this would have simply been done to protect her husband but if this was anyone else other than me she might have gotten hurt. Whatever you may think of me I would never disrespect or hurt a woman.

“I do not know how it comes about, but if you sit opposite a man every day and you are engaged in fighting him, you cannot help getting a liking for him whether he deserves it or not.” A. J. Balfour

December 25th by Anastasia Beaverhausen

So no pub this week as Tuesday Karaoke fell on Christmas day. The Thursday night Karaoke was back on for one week but I will not talk about that as this is based on Tuesdays only.

Well I will have to rabbit on about other stuff this week like TV and some other things. As predicted the Christmas number one was that dribble from X-Factor, Its taken all the fun out of Christmas singles now as artists know that they will not stand a chance against the X-Factor. Mind you I am not sure that Leon has any X-Factor he seems like every other one that comes out of that show.

So let’s move onto something else the Christmas Dr Who, I am a big fan of the Dr however, this Christmas one seemed a little over acted and may I even say it cheesy. The jumping around with his co-stars is getting silly and The Dr is starting to sound desperate for someone to come with him anyone female seems to be on his list of side kicks. Eastenders won the Christmas day viewing wars I should have bet to be honest as I thought that it would be them as they have the bigger story line and better ending I can not say more than that as I only saw it because it was on in the back ground. One year maybe Christmas in Albert square or Coronation Street will be happy I think I have more chance of the Tuesday night grouch becoming a friend to the Tuesday night Royalty to be honest.

If anyone saw the Bill the other day with the guy that was a con artist the three scams that he pulled were the same that was on The Real Hustle and in the same order The bill must be struggling to come up with criminals so they are now stealing them from other programmes.

I think all is left to say is Happy New Year to all our readers and let’s hope that the New Year brings back Thursday Night Karaoke so that the Pillock can go back where he belongs.
